Designer babies are babies whose genetic makeup has been chosen to eradicate a certain defect, or to make sure that a particular gene is present. Scientists recently have made rapid advances in our knowledge of the human genome and in our ability to modify and change genes. Using genetic screening, gene therapy, and In Vitro Fertilization, scientists are working on making designer babies a reality. However, with such power to control an offspring's genetic makeup, gender, appearance, intelligence, and eliminating inherited diseases, also comes great risks.The following is a link to a Prezi on information regarding designer babies.
